The adventures of bone fishing!

If you’re an experienced fly-fisherman, then you must know about bone fishing. Bonefish are best known for their astonishing strength and reel-stressing runs. These fish put up a FIGHT!  Bonefish have been aggressively designed by nature and will blend into their environment making it very challenging to find this lucrative fish. The Bonefish’s habitat creates easy advantages for predators. Because of this, their eyes have evolved to see with pinpoint accuracy, any hint of danger will send them bolting off into the deep blue.

Lucky for us, a very experienced fisherman Raphael Fasi has had the chance to bonefish at Motu Teta himself, and we’ve got him all to ourselves to share some very good results, and lots of advice for future Motu Teta fly-fishermen!

Here’s what Raphael had to say:

The lucrative bonefish is one of the most amazing species of fish known to mankind.

I have had the opportunity to fish all over the world, and with my experience as a registered guide and owner of Gone Fishing Colorado, I can with passion and confidence say Motu Teta is some of the most amazing bonefishing on the planet. Not only does Rangirora, Tahiti offer size and quantities of these majestic fish, but they are also not familiar with leaders, so they won’t be afraid when seeing one. BONUS!

The bonefish are sectioned into two main areas around the Rangiroa Atoll, the pink sands and Blue lagoon. Both offer vast areas of beautiful flats to fish this renowned species. After further investigation, I discovered the Bones hiding in the small inlets between the islands. “Like Columbus first step on North American soil, the adventure of the unknown is incomparable.” Without a doubt, this was a fly-fishing experience that you must see and try for yourself!

Tahitian Fish Friday!

Yes! Motu Teta does have sharks! But these gentle creatures are nothing to worry about! Black Tip Reef Sharks are very curious but they have no intentions of harming you, or any other human! These fish are so sweet that we even offer a shark feeding excursion at Motu Teta where you are able to immerse yourself with Black Tips, and watch them underwater (highly suggested activity for Motu Teta visitors)!
