Regional Information

Location

Motu Teta’s Co-ordinates – 15°18'17.04"S, 147°23'53.30"W.

Rangiroa, with its 42 mile long by 16 mile wide, turquoise and jade-green lagoon, is the largest atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago and the second largest in the world.  From the air, the atoll appears as a giant pearl necklace laid upon the ocean, in a world where 240 tiny islets, or Motus, each no more than three feet in elevation, lay upon the ocean for more than 110 miles completely encircling an infinitely deep lagoon.

Only an hour's flight from Tahiti, Papeete’s International Airport (PPT), Rangiroa offers sunshine, white coral beaches and an immense playground for water sport activities.  Lagoon excursions include amazing snorkeling amongst thousands of colorful fish, of all shapes and sizes, together with 3 or 4 varieties of sharks – that elegantly and harmlessly cruise by.  The Rangiroa lagoon and the pass are also world famous for unsurpassed scuba diving which is available through professional diving centers and can be pre-arranged.

Temperature / ”Seasons”

Visit Tahiti and Her Islands, get sun throughout the year!

French Polynesia is a tropical destination with lots of sun and just enough rain for its luxuriant vegetation and its colorful flowers.  It receives on average 313 to 363 days of sunshine per year. Temperatures range between 24°C and 30°C (75ºF - 86ºF) all year through and lagoon water temperature varies between 23°C and 26°C (72ºF - 80ºF).

Thus, the climate of Polynesia -defined as marine tropical- is hot (average air temperature is 26.5°C, 80ºF) and humid (hygrometry: 75%) but tempered by the tradewinds.

Testimonials

I will return the questionnaire shortly…but I am glad I now have your direct e-mail because I wanted to personally let you know what a wonderful time we all had on Motu Teta… for the beauty and unique nature of the location …but far more because of the extraordinary service and attention to detail of the staff…they were ALL wonderful! I have already recommended the Motu to a number of experienced and regular travelers who appreciate that level of service and I will continue to do so.

Personally, I am hoping to find the time to return sometime in the next couple of years, next time with my family! Meanwhile we will be making a point of experiencing some of your wines!
