Some excursions will lead you to discover the many motus (islets) that form the world’s second largest atoll in the world. The best known are isolated from general tourist areas but are, without question, well worth the detour. The Blue Lagoon with its natural pool bordered by coconut trees, the Reef Islands and their astonishing coral formations called "feo" or the sumptuous Pink Sand Motus are perfect for immersing oneself in the joys of bathing or snorkeling in an enchanting setting.
Surrounded by two legendary bodies of water, Moana-tea (Peaceful Ocean) and Moana-uri (Wild Ocean), the main villages of Avatoru and Tiputa offer visitors a unique look at the South Pacific. Along the few roads, historical churches, craft centers, local restaurants and tiny shops, these villages provide you with many enjoyable land-based experiences to complement the many activities in the lagoon… or perhaps, a visit to one of the many working pearl farms will complete your trip!
For the curious wine lovers, it is possible to discover a unique vineyard, located in the middle of a coconut plantation, with hopes of learning more about its production... and to get a taste too!
